Adding Pages To Your Website Using Content Direct

*** Not an affiliate yet? Click here to sign up ***

The process of adding a range of audio books and audiobook categories to your site is not that complicated.

Essentially, you send me certain specifications as to how you would like the layout of your pages to look (see instructions below) and a list of the categories of audiobooks you would like to promote on your site.

I then use this information to generate a set of data files for you with your affiliate ID embedded in all links using Spoken Network's ContentDirect technology. Once these files are created, I'll send you the zipped files and you then extract the files and upload these to your site.

- Click here to view the Content Direct training video now

A new window will open up and the video will play after loading. Please allow several minutes for the video to load.

- Click here to download the video to your computer and watch it later

You'll be asked to save the file to your hard drive as a ".zip" file. To play the video, simply extract all the contents in the zip folder to the same location in your hardrive and double click on the file called "contentdirect.html".

In the section below I'd like to cover the various options you have for customising your content using ContentDirect, so that the pages match the "look and feel" of your web sites.

I suggest you bookmark this page and use it as a handy reference guide.

Content Direct

ADDING PAGES TO YOUR SITE USING CONTENT DIRECT

Here is the information you need to send me so I can create audiobook files for your websites using ContentDirect:

=============
MAIN SETTINGS
=============

First Category: This is the main category you want content to be pulled from the Spoken Network database. This can be a broad category (e.g.  Business), or a subcategory (e.g. Business > Marketing). To see the full list, please visit www.audiobookone.net and search through the categories  menus on the main page and subpages.

Second Category: This is optional. You can specify a second category or subcategory here. For example, you may want to promote "business  audiobooks" as your main category, with "self help" titles as additional content for your audiobooks section.

Third Category: This is optional. You can specify a third category or subcategory here.

============================
ADVANCED SETTINGS - OPTIONAL
============================

(To view data generated using ContentDirect so that you can better understand what the settings below mean, visit www.audiobookone.com and click on any of the categories on the menu, then click on an individual audiobook title link, or view the ContentDirect training video).

The advanced setting options include the following elements:

1) Packshot Align

This setting adjusts where on the page the packshots (the product photographs) appear. Your three options are:

- Default (Left)
- Left
- Right

2) Packshot Border

You have two options here - border thickness and color. To set the border thickness, in pixels, select one of the following three options:

- Default (none)
- None
- 1 Pixel
- 2 Pixels

To set the color of the border, specify the hex-value for the color (e.g. #CD3G5R, #FFFFFF, etc ...).

Here's a great site for viewing hex color codes:

http://www.immigration-usa.com/html_colors.html

3) Include Samples (checkbox)

Please specify whether you want your content pages to provide audio "sample" links beneath the title description of each audiobook.

These samples are, of course, very useful to prospective customers wishing to sample the quality of the audio-book they are viewing, before proceeding to purchase.

4) Title Details Align

Irrespective of the Packshot alignment, you can stipulate whether the Title Text is aligned left or right of screen. You may wish to experiment with this setting until you are happy with the layout.

Your options are:

- Default (Right)
- Left
- Right

5) Title

The title settings let you change the appearance of the audio book title for the generated pages. Please specify:
- your preferred font type (e.g. verdana, arial, etc ...)
- your preferred point-size
- type of heading (from Normal to H7)
- text color
- please indicate whether you would also like to set the title text to Bold and/or Italics and/or Underlined.

6) Title Hover

The title hover color affects the color to which the 'title' link text momentarily changes as the customer's mouse passes over the link. This acts as a  highlight, and indicates to the user that they are about to select the highlighted title/details, should they proceed to click this link with their mouse. Please specify the hex-value for the color (e.g. #CD3G5R, #FFFFFF, etc ...) if you would like something other than the default title hover color (#800080 - purple).

7) Info

The "Info" settings are referring to author, narrator, publisher, price. etc. text that will appear on the generated pages. You can specify:
- your preferred font type (e.g. verdana, arial, etc ...)
- your preferred point-size
- type of heading (from Normal to H7)
- text color
- please indicate whether you would also like to set the title text to Bold and/or Italics and/or Underlined.

8) Links

This setting adjusts the color of the other links (besides the title link) that can be found on the generated pages. Please specify the hex-value for the  color (e.g. #CD3G5R, #FFFFFF, etc...) if you would like something other than the default title hover color (normal = #0000ff - blue / hover #800080 - purple).

You can also specify the following for the description text that accompanies each audiobook:
- your preferred font type (e.g. verdana, arial, etc ...)
- your preferred point-size

To set the color of the dividing line, specify the hex-value for the color (e.g. #CD3G5R, #FFFFFF, etc ...).

=======

Please indicate if you would like a site map generated for the pages produced. This option is only applicable should you download the plain HTML files. On unzipping the HTML files, you will see that (as well as the individual product HTML pages) there is also a "sitemap.html" file for your use in creating a website from these pages.

If you want the sitemap file to be named anything different to the default name ("sitemap.html") please specify your preferred name. Also, please be sure to include the file extension when specifying the new filename.

===================
OUTPUTTING THE DATA
===================

Please specify the number of content pages you would like outputted (e.g. 10, 30, 50, 100 or more ...).

Generating the Data Set:

Data can be outputted in one of three formats:

1) CSV File (Raw data - no formatting or layout)
2) XML File (Raw data - no formatting or layout)
3) Zipped Pages (formatted HTML pages)

Please note:

It may take one or more attempts to get the right layout and look to integrate with the rest of your site. If the first set of data generated for you  needs fine-tuning, just let me know what adjustments need to be made and we'll work together until the pages look right and you're happy with the results.
