FAQ – How Quickly Are Best-Selling Audio Book Titles Added To The Store Catalog?

Published by AudioBookOne.net at 10:26 am under Audiobooks

I recently received the email enquiry below from a visitor to www.AudioBookOne.net, so I thought I’d publish it in case you have a similar question:

=====================

I am doing some audioboook research for a friend who has new vision problems.

He wants fiction mostly.  How soon do you get best sellers?  Is there a lag time after they are printed?  Is it months or a year or what?

Your company looks more impressive as a supplier than any of the others I have seen.

I just want to be sure you are a FAST source of best selling fiction (fast from hard copy to audio book format)  Are you?

Here’s the reply I received from Mike in our support department, which I then forwarded to our customer:

Hi Martin

Thanks for passing along this interesting enquiry.

As you may have expected, there’s no simple answer.

For new content, we are completely dependant on Publishers. We will always aim to get new content up and live as quickly as we can, especially where there’s some movie/publicity tie in, or a time sensitive element.

We have no control over timescales for producing audio versions of print titles. For a new print release, the audio version may follow very quickly. For a backlist print title, it may be years after. In either scenario, all downloadable services will be in the same position.

Whatever the history with a particular title, once we receive it in audio format we’ll always aim to get it live asap.

We’re not, of course, making the customer commit to any sort of subscription.

I hope this helps you to respond to this enquiry.

Best regards

Mike
